The Arlington Jaguars 6th grade boys select A Team team won the Division 2 Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC) with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Ludlow on June 25 in Lancaster. The Jaguars won eight straight games against teams from all over the state to capture the title. The Jaguars defeated Attleboro and Dorchester to reach the playoff final, where they overcame a strong and physical Marlboro in a tense 3-2 thriller in Medfield to advance to the MTOC. The MTOC tournament is held at New England’s largest soccer complex in Lancaster, MA and includes around 200 teams in age groups from grade 6 to 12. The Jaguars defeated Ludlow, Maynard, Topsfield in the group stage, and a tough Wilmington side in the semi-final to reach the final. Playing with only 2 substitutes, and having to draw deeply on their physical and mental reserves, the Jaguars faced Ludlow a second time in a tense game in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.
